CP Kelco represents a new branch of business and interesting challenges for Done
CP Kelco of the United States is a leading global producer of hydrocolloids. The company’s Finnish unit focuses on the paper and industrial applications of CMC (carboxymethylcellulose).
Done Logistics delivered to CP Kelco in Äänekoski automated handling systems for pulp bales and rolls which included the automatic removal of binding wires, the unpacking of pulp sheet bales and the feeding of individual sheets into a rough shredder.
Pulp bale and roller lines
Bound pulp bales are fed, using a forklift truck, onto a chain conveyor, from where they are transferred to the automatic binding wire removal device. The wire locator spots the binding metal wires on the surface of the bales and cuts them individually. After this the device feeds the wires into a wire shredder using a pneumatic extractor. The bales are then transferred to the chain conveyor junction and onwards to the sheet feeding device, which lifts them up. At the top, a dispenser wheel unpacks the bales and feeds the sheets individually, in a string-like manner and at the desired speed, into the rough shredder.
Bales can be fed onto the pulp bale line using a side feed as well. In this case, the bales are first moved backwards to the binding wire removal device, from where they are then transferred up and into the rough shredder. Pulp rolls are rolled manually on the floor into the roll lifter and then raised using a hydraulic lift. At the top position a roll is spun to the first obstacle on the roll rack and then to the other end of the line, where it is fed into the refiner.
CP Kelco represents a new branch of industry for Done Logistics, which is why deliveries to the company contained some interesting challenges that entailed the implementation of different technologies and solutions. This way Done Logistics improves its professionalism. Done Logistics can at the same time enlarge its know how in a totally new branch of business and widen its understanding and mastery of the different sectors of intralogistics. |
